Project Needlemouse: Sega tease new HD, 2D Sonic for 2010
The biggest 09/09/09 10th anniversary news for still-dejected Sega/Dreamcast fans: Sega has told GameSpot that they're preparing a "brand new [hi-def] 2D adventure coming out in 2010" for the franchise's 20th anniversary, currently teased as Project Needlemouse, which they see as a "critical first step that brings Sonic back to his 2D roots," after years spent going -- as the superfans would see -- far, far afield.

I really want it to work. I want to be reminded of times gone by.
But I'm already scared, looking at the official website. Look at the far right loop. It's got polygonal edges, man. Polygonal edges. We don't need no fucking 3D. We need vector drawn things. We need artistry. We need something to look at and marvel at, the same way we marveled at Green Hill Zone that first time, or that wonderful Ice Cap zone in Sonic 3...

I hear CWC is finally getting his wish and Sega are putting Sonichu (and maybe Rosechu?) in this new game.
Yheah!

Or it's a fan project, like the Chrono Trigger Crimson Echoes attempt. (Square/Enix, I hate you for killing that.)

You've found our Needlemouse project! Congratulations!
You may think you're looking at a sample of the upcoming Sega game, which according to recent speculation is called Project Needlemouse. What you've stumbled on is actually a fan-created game that we’ve been calling Needlemouse: The Emerald Hills since we began working on it a few months ago.
Here’s the story. What you see above is some early environment art from a 3D re-imagining of a classic series, aimed recreating the tried-and-true side-scrolling platformer with a lot more eye-candy."

Subliminal- For the longest time I wanted a Sega Master System but I wasn't allowed one..Everytime I'd go into K-Mart I'd get to play Sonic on their system but only for about 15 minutes, sometimes longer if no-one was watching behind me..This drew my interest to Sonic. My Mum believed we already had a computer and that was enough no other system was needed.
Once we moved to Melbourne in 1992 I discovered Sonic The Hedgehog Comics...This allowed me to "live" in Sonics world when I wasn't allowed the system to play on.
It wasn't until we moved back to Tasmania was I finally allowed to purchase a Sega Master Drive II which came along with Sonic 1 & 2.
