John Madden admits he's not good at Madden NFL
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, John Madden &mdash the former NFL Hall of Famer who is the namesake for one of EA's consistently best-selling video games series &mdash admits that he plays Madden NFL but isn't good at it.
I do play the game. I'm not very good. I'm not good enough to test it the way that I want it to be tested. So what I'll do is have someone play the game while I watch it, or I'll have two guys play each other and I'll watch them play. I want to watch and see how the game plays and I'm just looking for things that are wrong or things that are in the NFL game that aren't in the video game. Anything that's in the video game that's not real, I want out. That's what I do. I do the football part and checking to make sure that it's real and has credibility.
I feel like this is okay &mdash the man was a really good football player, coach, and commentator in real life. We can't expect him to also be awesome at video games, too.

If anything we should expect the games to be accessible enough that he'd be able to stay entertained and motivated, and get the hang of it with practice... without needing tons of disposable time to focus on them.

@Airpillo, I don't expect video games to be fairly rapidly understood by a 73-year-old major media figure who is almost certainly pretty busy. Plus, he's not someone who grew up paying attention to screens and buttons.
Anyway, playing the game is fun, but you get caught up in the experience. That's fun and all, but I'm assuming that other people can point out how immersive and interesting it is. He's there for the football, and after (most recently) years commenting on games, probably is best able to get a feel for what's going right and wrong when seeing it played by people who know what they're doing.
