One shot: a plea for financial system gaming

wallstreet.jpg

Dear games industry, a homework assignment: inspired by this recently discovered Odyssey2 ad, please make us a game about the financial system. It's got inherent drama, preset rules and goals, a topical crisis, and you'll get massive bonus points if you can design it to even vaguely resemble this.

Wall Street Kid didn't quite get there. Ping me when you're done. Ready? Go. [via OFP]

I recently got two copies of the Wall Street Fortune Hunt in a box of Odyssey 2 games at a yard sale. It comes in a huge box with game pieces and a game board.

I don't have a working odyssey 2, so I haven't tried this game out. But I hope to post pictures of the box and it's contents.

I love the art design for Odyssey 2 games and cartridges.

Wasn't there an microprose wall street game? I seem to remember one on the old Apple IIgs in the math lab back in jr. high.

While it may not be currently topical, Black Monday (1988) was well done for its time. It simulates the trading up until the point of the 1987 stock market crash, and then you have a few rounds to try and cut your losses. I did a deeper write-up of it for a project: http://bit.ly/2fqee
