Drag me to Azeroth: Raimi tapped for World of Warcraft film

In the off chance that you still haven't heard, Blizzard dropped a late-night release to announce that Evil Dead, Spider-Man and Drag Me to Hell director Sam Raimi has officially been chosen to direct a forthcoming movie based on World of Warcraft, alongside The Dark Knight/12 Monkeys producer Charles Roven, and 300/Watchmen/The Hangover production company Legendary Pictures.
Blizzard has yet to announce any further details except to say that its senior VP of creative development Chris Metzen will also be co-producing the film, which is tentatively slated for 2011 release, and will begin shooting, Variety reports, after Raimi completes Spider-Man 4.

If I was a WoWtard, after the horrible, horrible things Raimi did to the Spiderman franchise (especially the sequel, and especially the third), I would be shooting myself right now.
Fortunately, I don't give a flying frack about WoW.
Plus, let's face it, every videogame adaptation ever made (with the possible exception of Silent Hill) has sucked, big time. This will be no exception.
Sad, though. The Warcraft background story is really neat.

Sam Raimi deserves a chance to prove it. It's gonna be a tough challenge for him coz not all games which hit the big screen makes it to the top. But then, there's always an exception. Now I wonder if Raimi would include the life of characters in the virtual world which would be raiding, grinding wow gold and trading.

The first spiderman movie was good. And it's rare that a well-known director like Sam Raimi direct a film based on a game... on the other hand, he did it with comic books..
