Paul Robertson pumps pixels for energy drink
By now you're probably well familiar with Paul Robertson's Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006 and epic Kings of Power 4 Billion % (it's actually a bit criminal to stream either; check here and here for a download mirror to watch in full res), and now he's returned with, err, an energy drink commercial. It takes too long to get to the good bits, but then you never want it to end.

Hopefully he's going to!
From his journal:
"I haven't done anything of my own lately because I've been working on a commercial and DS games. But this was way too important to be left undrawn, so here you go."

He followed that entry up with a full list of his commercial work (if your eyes can move away from the junk food pixel-cuties).
Most notably, he's been working with 5th Cell on Drawn to Life and their DS tower defense game Lock's Quest. They're the ones doing the Scribblenauts game I mentioned back here.

After watching all his stuff, I'm afraid I wasn't ready to look at anything not flashing. Thanks Brandon. :)

In addition to the obvious Sonic and Mario references, there were brief Alex Kidd and Adventure Island moments as well. I missed whether some of the other moments were references to specific games or simply genre pastiches.
I had no idea he worked on Contra 4. I need to pay closer attention to credits.

There was a MegaMan-style slide-kick after the springboard jump and a MegaMan suit later on. Also the slimes at the beginning are straight out of Dragon Warrior.

It's quick but he beats the microphone guy with a Street Fighter hadouken, headband and all.
Also the option in the shooting part is rather R-Type force pod-esque.

All the happiness in this makes me think of Eversion.

The music whilst he drinks Syke is also a Mega Man reference I guess.

I love all the little details/references Paul shows in his work.
